Sign up and payment help

What do you mean by inviting my clients? Will they have to pay too?

You can invite your clients and customers to be members of your projects, and they won't have to pay a penny. When you invite someone, they'll receive an email containing a link to a special signup form which simply gives them access to your project.

Do I need to enter my credit card details if I only want the free plan?

Nope. You only need to enter your credit card details when signing up for or changing to another paid plan.

I get transferred to spreedly.com when attempting to pay for my plan. Is this normal?

Spreedly are our payment provider, who handle all our repeat transactions. Being transferred to Spreedly to enter your card details is completely intentional - your details will be safe and secure.

How often can I change plans?

As often as you like. When you change plans we apply any outstanding credit you have for the month towards your new plan's first payment.

Is there a pay-as-you-go or pre-purchase plan?

None of our plans have minimum stays - you're always free to close your account or to change your existing one, but all our paid accounts require that your credit card be billed monthly. That is the only type of payment plan we offer.

Do you offer phone support?

No phone support is offered at this time. We do however offer free email support to all users - we're around during UK business hours and endeavour to respond to all enquiries in as short order as possible.

Tails features

If I invite a client to my project, what kind of account will they have?

Your client will technically have a free account, which lets them start 1 project of their own if they so wish.

If my developer invites me to a project, can I use my current Tails account?

Yes, you can keep using your current Tails account. The invitation you receive will contain a code that you can enter on the My Projects page in order to accept your invitation.

Are file attachments available on the free plan?

No, file attachments are only available to paid users.

I'm on a paid plan. Can my clients upload files even if they do not have paid accounts of their own?

Clients can upload files if their project's owner is a paying subscriber. The space used to store those files will come from the project owner's allowance.

Can I make my projects public?

Yes, you can open your projects to the public on a one-by-one basis. When you do this, people who are members of your project will be able to do everything they were able to before, but "guest" users will only be able view existing tickets and bulletins, and submit bugs and feature requests to you. The Tails project itself is public.

Can I make my projects private?

Yes, you can make individual projects private so that only people you invite will be able to view or contribute to them.

Can I make my projects public but only allow files to be uploaded by my team?

Yes, this option was added in August 2008.

Is there a developer API?

Yes! The Tails API is provisionally completed and being documented. Contact us if you'd like to become a beta tester.

Privacy questions

Does Tails have a privacy policy? Where can I find it?

Tails privacy policy is available to view at http://www.bugtails.com/privacy.html and is updated as new developments occur.

Do you market to my clients?

Absolutely not. The closest thing we come to doing anything like that is to hope privately that they enjoy Tails enough to tell their friends about it. We do not market to or contact* your clients and have no intention to take them from you.
*unless they need their password resetting, in which case we'll be happy to help them.

Is my data secure with you?

We take every reasonable measure to comply with security best practice and to keep your data safe and secure from theft and unwanted alteration. Our data is in there too!

Bulk licensing and enterprise licensing questions

Your biggest plan is not sufficient for my needs. Can you help us?

We can almost certainly work something out. Contact us and we'll discuss it further with you.

Do you offer a non-hosted version of Tails?

We've been considering it for a while, and we'd be willing to try an arrangement like that to see how it pans out. Contact us and we'll discuss it further with you.
